FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BABY WRAP

As each child develops individually and at different speeds, there is not a specific age that the baby wrap can be used up until, but we rather specify that you can use our baby wrap up until your baby weighs 10kgs. An average baby weighs 10kgs at around 10-12 months of age.

Tying a baby wrap correctly is essential for both the safety and comfort of your baby. Therefore, we have prepared a video for you that gives step-by-step instructions on how to do so. You can find this video here. Should you have any questions about the video or any issues when tying the baby wrap, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service.

Our baby wraps are made from 95% organic GOTS-certified cotton and 5% spandex to keep them nice and strechy, whilst also being breathable and produced with care for the environment.

Using a baby wrap during workouts or training sessions can be possible, but it requires careful consideration of both your safety and your baby's well-being. First off, it is essential that you tie the wrap correctly to ensure safety and well-being of your baby.
Ensure that your baby has sufficient neck and head control for the movements associated with your workout and confirm that your baby is positioned ergonomically with proper support for their hip and spine before you begin.
Begin with low-impact exercises and gradually increase intensity as you and your baby become more comfortable. Avoid sudden or jerky movements, or activities that involve excessive bouncing or jarring movements.
It is advisable that you pay close attention to your baby's reactions during the workout. If they seem uncomfortable, fussy, or show signs of distress, stop immediately and check on them. It's crucial to prioritize safety and comfort for both you and your baby during any physical activity. If you have any doubts or concerns, consult with your healthcare provider or a certified babywearing consultant for personalized advice.

You can easily wash your baby wrap in the washing machine at 40 degrees celcius. Please make sure to remove any cards, keys or pacifiers from the pocket and wash with similar colors, to prevent the colors from changing or washing out.

The quick answer is yes, you can breastfeed while using a baby wrap. As baby wraps are designed to provide a hands-free way to cary your baby, they also provide a discrete opportunity yo breastfeed your baby while on the go. Before attempting to breastfeed using a baby wrap in public, practicing to breastfeed in the wrap at home might be a good idea as this will help you and your baby get comfortable with the process.
It can also be very helpful to loosen the fabric around your baby's head and mouth a little bit to make latching easier. Ensure that the baby's face is visible and not covered by the fabric at all times. Lower your baby slightly in the wrap, bringing them closer to your breast for feeding, whilst making sure that their nose remains free and not pressed against your body. If your baby is still very young and lacks head control, it is important that you support their head whilst they feed.
Remember that practice and patience are key. It may take some time for both you and your baby to become accustomed to breastfeeding in a wrap, but with practice, it can become a convenient and comfortable way to nurse while on the move.

We have produced two sizes of baby wraps, one in XS/S and one in M/L. The sizes are an indication for the parents more than for the baby. As the baby wraps are very strechy, they can easily fit many different body types and fit snug to securely hold the baby without restricting the airflow for the baby or parent.

Baby wraps are safe and can be beneficial for newborns, as they allow for skin-to-skin contact and facilitate bonding, when used correctly. However, it's essential to follow safety guidelines and ensure proper positioning of the baby. Therefore it is important to ensure that your newborn is positioned high and tight against your chest with their face visible and close enough to kiss. The baby's airway should remain clear, and the chin should not be pressed against the chest. Additionally, as newborns lack neck control, it's crucial to provide adequate support for their neck and head. Moreover, when tying the baby wrap, remember to position your baby in the spread-squat position, where the baby's knees are higher than their hips. This supports healthy hip development.

When using a baby wrap it is always advisable to periodically check on your baby to ensure they have not slumped down in the wrap, which could compromise their airway.
If you have any concerns or questions about using a baby wrap with your newborn, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or a certified babywearing consultant for personalized guidance.

If your baby doesn't seem to enjoy being in a baby wrap, there are several things you can try to make the experience more comfortable and enjoyable for both of you. First off, check that your baby is sitting comfortable in the wrap and that their basic needs are met (diaper changed, not hungry or tired). Also make sure that the wrap is properly tied and provides enough support for your baby.
If your baby is not used to being in a wrap, it can also help to introduce it gradually. Start with short periods of time and gradually increase as your baby becomes more accustomed. Additionally, engage in activities that your baby enjoys whilst they are in the wrap. Talk to them, sing, or provide a toy for them to hold onto. This can make the experience more enjoyable. Some babies take time to adjust to being in a wrap. Be patient and give your baby the opportunity to get used to the new experience.
Remember that every baby is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Pay attention to your baby's cues and comfort, and be open to trying different approaches to find what works best for both of you.

If you wish to use a baby wrap in hot weather or higher temperatures there are a few factors you should pay attention to, to ensure both the comfort and safety of you and your baby. Our baby wrap is made of breathable organic cotton, to prevent overheating, however it is still important to be mindful of how you dress your baby. Appropriate clothing for hot weather, such as lightweight and breathable clothing should be worn, and consider using a sun hat to protect your baby’s head from sun exposure. Moreover, looser wrapping of the baby wrap also allows for more air circulation to prevent overheating. Staying in the shade where possible to avoid direct sunlight and making sure both you and your baby are properly hydrated also increase the safety of using a baby wrap in warmer weather. Finally, using a fan for additional airflow and checking your baby for signs of overheating - such as fussiness, sweating and general discomfort - can also be beneficial. Remember to always prioritize your baby's comfort and safety. If it's too hot, consider using alternative methods of carrying your baby, such as a lightweight stroller or a breathable baby carrier.

As skin-to-skin contact is very beneficial for bonding with a baby, both parents can of course benefit from the use of a baby wrap to do this. We have produced our baby wrap in two sizes, one in XS/S and one in M/L, which are an indication for the parents more than for the baby. As the baby wraps are very strechy, they can easily fit many different body types and fit snug to securely hold the baby without restricting the airflow for the baby or parent.

The duration you can use a baby wrap at a time depends on various factors, including your baby's age, their comfort, and your own comfort. Therefore we always advise you to pay attention to both your comfort and your baby's comfort. If you or your baby show signs of fatigue, discomfort, or overheating, it's time to take a break and readjust. It can also help to change your baby's position and yours periodically to prevent stiffness and ensure a comfortable experience. Different carries and positions distribute weight and pressure differently, reducing the risk of discomfort. It's also common for babies to fall asleep while being worn in a wrap. While naps in a wrap can be convenient, it's crucial to be vigilant and follow safe sleep guidelines. Ensure your baby's face is visible and unobstructed, and their airway is clear.

In the early weeks and months of your baby’s lifetime, it may want to be carried in a wrap for longer periods, often up to 2 hours at a time. It's essential to pay attention to your baby's cues and provide breaks as needed. As your baby grows and becomes more active, you may find that shorter periods of babywearing are more comfortable for both you and your baby. Typically, wearing a baby for 30 minutes to 1 hour at a time is a reasonable guideline.

Always use common sense and listen to your baby's cues. If your baby seems uncomfortable, fussy, or you feel fatigued, it's time to take a break. Additionally, consult with your pediatrician if you have any concerns about using a baby wrap, especially if your baby has any medical conditions or special needs.

There are baby wraps that are specifically designed for twins. These are often referred to as tandem carriers, however Moonboon does not currently offer these.

When choosing the right size of the baby wrap for yourself, we reccommend to base this on the size you wear in clothes. So if you wear XXS, XS or S, we recommend choosing the smaller baby wrap, and if you wear M, L or XL we recommend choosing the larger size. Moreover, if you plan on sharing the baby wrap with your partner of a different size, we recommend choosing the size that best accomodates the larger one of you. For example, if you wear S yourself, but your partner wears L, we recommend choosing the baby wrap in the larger size, as it can always be tied tighter to fit you, even in the larger size.
